When it comes to the wonderful world of Ebay selling, there are many tasks to be done before you can rest on your laurels as an established merchant. However, it could be said that much of your Ebay success begins and ends with the central element of the auction: your Ebay listing.
Ebay has set up a relatively easy system for listing your items for sale. Sellers can type in text to be displayed as a product description and digital photos can be uploaded for display. But the listing form also allows you to add HTML code, and savvy HTML programmers can make use of this option to jazz up product descriptions and possibly catch the customer's attention.
In product descriptions, sellers have an opportunity to engage the potential customer. Keep in mind that Ebay customer are often bombarded with overdone and even deceptive product descriptions. You might want to keep the text fairly simple and down to earth. Catching the attention of a customer doesn't always mean a 'shock and awe' approach to selling. Some customer respond better to a well-designed but subdued product listing.
Also, the quality and quantity of photos provided is an index to a customer's interest. Make sure the photos have good light and show the item clearly and realistically.
Finally, responding to customer questions clearly and professionally increases your chances of being taken seriously as a seller. Leading customers around by the nose will probably result in negative client feedback and do damage to your reputation.
