Ebay has set up a relatively easy system for listing your items for sale. Sellers can type in text to be displayed as a product description and digital photos can be uploaded for display. But the listing form also allows you to add HTML code, and savvy HTML programmers can make use of this option to jazz up product descriptions and possibly catch the customer's attention.
In product descriptions, sellers have an opportunity to engage the potential customer. Keep in mind that Ebay customer are often bombarded with overdone and even deceptive product descriptions. You might want to keep the text fairly simple and down to earth. Catching the attention of a customer doesn't always mean a 'shock and awe' approach to selling. Some customer respond better to a well-designed but subdued product listing.
