The business owner wants their product to stand out and appeal to the customer in a different way than competing products.

The second step is to become familiar with the customer. Advertising should read as if the business owner and customer are old friends. This means casual, but still with a professional appeal. Making the ad read like a story is a good way to keep familiar but professional. The idea is to make the customer happy about the product and feel as if they need to buy it from the particular business owner.

The third step is to make the customer feel as if they need to buy now. This can be done by offering special pricing or a freebie if the customer orders the product within a certain time frame. This helps to keep the customer from going elsewhere and possibly ending up buying from a competitor.

Finally, the business owner needs to establish credibility and let the customer know they can trust them. Credibility can be established by using tips or answering questions about the product.

These fours steps will help the novice business owner write advertising that will help sell their products. Advertising can be an experience where the business owner learns as they go, but having a good starting point will ensure their efforts are not wasted.
