An Open Book: How to blog for cash
There are numerous definitions that explain what a blog is. Basically, a blog, or a “web log” is a journal that is kept up online by a single participant. The participant, or writer, keeps an archive of past entries in chronological order. Blogs can be about any topic a writer is interested in, and recently blogs have been getting lots of publicity as a means of making money.
Since there are a great many people out there who do not even know what a blog is to begin with, there are even fewer who understand how to make money by writing one. The answer is not necessarily a simple one. Blogs have money making potential through several different venues, some more lucrative than others. One way is through advertising programs such as Adsense and BlogAds. Bloggers advertise their sites, and each time someone clicks onto their site they make a small profit (usually in the area of a few cents per click). Recently more and more blog advertising sites have popped up, so it is important to do some research on Google to keep updated.
Bloggers can also make money through sponsorships by companies. Blogs are discovered by companies that want to advertise on a certain blog, and will start an ad campaign there. Companies may also hire bloggers for on a case-by-case basis, in which they will ask a specific blogger to write on certain topics.
There are also many businesses that are taking advantage of the popularity of blogging, and have started their own blogs online. These companies hire writers to upkeep a blog for them in order to keep their community updated on the latest news and events that are relevant to the specific topic. Bloggers for Hire is a website that writers can look at if they are looking for professional blogging opportunities.
