Affiliate programs turn web space into online real estate

Just as in real estate in the real world, space online is coveted and worth money. Even by owning a small website, it is possible to make money through an affiliate program by having other websites advertise in your space. It is also possible to make money through programs that pay if you refer people to their website through word of mouth. However, there is a lot of competition for this market out there, and it is important to be aware of your rights as you navigate the affiliate opportunities online.

No matter how busy a website is the owner can earn money by hosting banners for other companies. There are three ways in which to begin earning money through banner posting. The first is called “Pay-Per-Impression” where the owner of the website earns a small profit each time a company’s advertisement is displayed on their page. Therefore, the owner automatically earns more money if the website is busier because the banner is loaded, and therefore displayed, more often. “Pay-Per-Click” means that the owner only gets paid if the viewer clicks on the banner. However, payment is higher for pay-per-click affiliates than it is for pay-per-impression. The third type of affiliate program is the “Pay-Per-Sale or Lead” affiliate. This means that the owner is only paid if the business being advertised profits from someone who came to their site through yours.

Who Is Making Money Online?

Any time there is a new product, someone thinks “How can I make money with this?” The internet is a perfect example. Since the mid 90’s millions of people have been making money online

First you have the people who are making money online by using the power of the internet to promote their current business through web sites and advertising. Pop up ads can be annoying and blocked but they work. Today, all serious companies, and many not so serious ones as well, use their home web site as a place for their customers or potential customers to get information, and buy buy buy from the comfort of home. Why go to your local Target if you can shop online at Target.com? Target doesn’t care, they make money either way.

Others make their money online by offering products and services tailor made for internet users. They would include sites for online gaming, auctions, entertainment, and so on. EBay for example makes all their money online and would not even exist if it weren’t for the internet.

The average Joe or Joanna can also get a slice of the pie by doing paid surveys, playing with stocks or other online money making ventures. They can also auction or sell their own items. Anyone can pop up an Angelfire.com website to sell home made products. These ventures can be costly and have no real guarantee, no matter what the “Home Based Internet Business” pop up window promises.

The one avenue of making money online that is often overlooked: job placement. With sources like newspaper classifieds in other cities (so you can look for jobs in the Chicago Tribune without leaving Dallas) to job promotional sites such as Monster.com, the possibilities are endless. Utilizing the internet to find a well paying job could be the best way to make money online.

Who knows what the future holds. We do know that every day people are making money online and, equally important, other people are spending money online.

A Home for Your Business: Thinking of E-commerce Solutions as Virtual Real Estate

Choosing an e-commerce solution for an online business is very much the same as checking out real estate for a shop. Choosing an e-commerce host depends heavily on the needs of the business owner – how much space will she need? How many items does she intend to sell? What advantages does hosting a shop through one company have that another may not? In thinking about choosing an e-commerce solution, it may be helpful to think about it as though you are choosing real estate. It is certainly as serious of a decision, since the host is the environment in which your shop is built. If it is difficult to get to, provides bad customer service, or does not have enough room for all of your stuff, you simply cannot do business there.

The first step to choosing an e-commerce solution is to understand what is important. Generally, a site that offers a full wizard-driven setup will take you from start to finish in building your shop front, so that everything is included like shipping and payment options, as well as a listing of all of your items.

There should also be a wide range of template choices. Would you settle for real estate that is “good enough”? Go with an e-commerce solution that works with what you have in mind, and what will work best with your products.

A choice e-commerce solution should also offer additional marketing. No shop ever made money without publicity, and online shops are no different. Choose a site that offers as much additional marketing as possible.

Choose to go with a choice that has more space than you initially need so that your business has room to grow and starts off with all the features necessary to making your business a success.

Simple Ways to Provide Excellent Customer Service on eBay

Providing excellent customer service is important in any type of business setting, and it is no different when doing business on ebay. The way to get repeat customers, or even to attract future customers, is to go above and beyond the clients’ expectations and the services provided by other vendors. For serious ebay vendors, customer service is especially important because every single client can leave feedback stating whether the transaction was positive, neutral or negative. Those marks are visible to potential buyers, who will be turned off by a high number of neutral or negative transactions.

But with the abundance of sellers on ebay, how can a seller’s customer service standards stand out? The trick is to treat each transaction with a high level of attention and care. Here are the top three tricks to keeping customers coming back for more:

Be Attentive: Just like any other relationship in life, customers need attention and respect. Ebay business owners should be available to provide quick answers for customers within 24 hours at most. Potential customers feel ignored when potential vendors do not respond quickly.

Be Speedy: The best way to get positive feedback is to send clients’ items out ASAP. However, never rush as this can cause mix ups and mistakes. Vendors must be careful that they are sending the right item to the right customer at the right address – otherwise a speedy transaction can turn out to take much longer than necessary.

Provide Extras: Using tissue to pack adds a touch of class. Also, providing a short listing of other items for sale in the package can increase sales.

Make It Work: Home business ideas on a budget

People are incredibly diverse, and so are their needs. Some of us are very organized, with every paper in its proper folder; for others, this kind of structure is only a faraway dream. Some people are great at packing healthy, balanced lunches for their kids, while the rest of the neighborhood is eating cereal bars topped off with sugary soda. Everyone is good at something that someone else needs, and these talents allow anyone to start a home business on a budget.

The key word here is budget. So you do not have thousands of dollars to spend on a business – no big deal. As you may have noticed, the talents mentioned above don’t require many tools. Here are some suggestions for home businesses that can be started on a shoestring budget:

Ultimate Organizer: These days it seems like people just have an overabundance of clutter in their lives. Whether their downfall is too much paper, a collection gone wild, or even just one room in their home that they have never gotten around to cleaning, many people fall to the clutches of disorganization. If you are organized, why not start a business to help others become like-minded – or at least clutter-free.

Lunches-To-Go: Unlike on television, in many families packing a healthy lunch for the kids just isn’t an option. If you enjoy cooking or have a knack for nutrition, advertise a boxed lunch business that provides balanced meals for busy families.

Sell Your Stuff: Practically anything will sell on ebay. Post old, or unused items on ebay – and while you’re at it, start posting for others too (for a small fee, of course). It could be very lucrative!

An Open Book: How to blog for cash

There are numerous definitions that explain what a blog is. Basically, a blog, or a “web log” is a journal that is kept up online by a single participant. The participant, or writer, keeps an archive of past entries in chronological order. Blogs can be about any topic a writer is interested in, and recently blogs have been getting lots of publicity as a means of making money.

Since there are a great many people out there who do not even know what a blog is to begin with, there are even fewer who understand how to make money by writing one. The answer is not necessarily a simple one. Blogs have money making potential through several different venues, some more lucrative than others. One way is through advertising programs such as Adsense and BlogAds. Bloggers advertise their sites, and each time someone clicks onto their site they make a small profit (usually in the area of a few cents per click). Recently more and more blog advertising sites have popped up, so it is important to do some research on Google to keep updated.

Bloggers can also make money through sponsorships by companies. Blogs are discovered by companies that want to advertise on a certain blog, and will start an ad campaign there. Companies may also hire bloggers for on a case-by-case basis, in which they will ask a specific blogger to write on certain topics.

There are also many businesses that are taking advantage of the popularity of blogging, and have started their own blogs online. These companies hire writers to upkeep a blog for them in order to keep their community updated on the latest news and events that are relevant to the specific topic. Bloggers for Hire is a website that writers can look at if they are looking for professional blogging opportunities.

Find Subjects That Matter for a Profitable E-book

There are books out there on just about every topic imaginable, from Star Trek to investment banking, and chances are that any given person’s interests are just as diverse. Believe it or not, there are people out there who would pay for your knowledge, whatever topic you may be experienced with. However, certain topics may be more profitable than other topics when it comes to selling ideas in the form of an e-book.

One way to find out what people are interested in learning about is to do a little online research. Those topics that are bestsellers will inevitably branch off into things that you are an expert at, and in turn can profit from. Think about your day – you get up in the morning, wake up the kids, pack their lunches – aha! You could write about kids’ nutrition; that’s something lots of people are interested in learning and actually need to know about. Or maybe while driving the kids to school you notice a slight difference in your car, and make a mental note to change the oil later. Why not write an e-book on car maintenance for non-mechanics? While some e-book ideas sell better than others, by sticking to topics that the general public can relate to you can insure a larger profit.

Here are some topics that people are most interested in learning about:

Making Money Online
Home Business
Real estate
Collecting
Travel
Renovating
Interior decorating
Computers
Dieting/Health/Nutrition
Exercise
Jewelry making
Pet care

The list of profitable e-book ideas is practically endless!

Therefore, the most difficult part to writing a profitable e-book is to do a little bit of research on topics that people are interested in. It also helps to do some research on your topic of choice, even if you are already a guru. Once you have written your e-book, publishing options are abundant!
